Heart Berlin.

So much to do, so little time. Four unbelievable days filled to overflowing with museums, art galleries, architecture, shopping, cafes, restaurants and playgrounds. And to top it off, the weather was ah-mazing. Bananas. Our days were long and choc-a-block full of adventures. Yet, we still left wanting more and hoping to squeeze in a return trip before we say our last goodbyes.

Home Again.

The duck, the bike and the eis. The former two, pushed around simultaneously. All. Morning. Long.
And the latter, a homemade summer treat. Gobbled up after the morning's hard work.

Back from Berlin and already reminiscing about what has to be one of our fave holidays so far. It's up there with the likes of Stockholm and Italy. Alas, there are bags to unpack, clothes to wash, nerves to calm... I promise to upload some of our holiday snaps as soon as I have the energy to edit the 500 plus photos.

Why oh why didn't someone warn us about the perils of travelling with an 18 month old? And an Elke one at that!

Auf Wiedersehen Frühling...

...und Willkommen Sommer.

Enjoying the last few days of Spring with friends at our 'Local'. Summer, please take cue from Spring. She's been mighty good to us these last 2 months. And Berlin, see you Thursday.

Happy Mondays.

Thank you to whoever took the liberty to brighten up that drab and dreary footpath in front of our house. The colour coupled with the sunshine (May, have we told you lately that we love you?) has made for a very happy Monday around these parts. And it doesn't hurt that last night was the first time in a loooong time that Elke slept right through until the morning. Happy and painfree.

Why, hello there new teeth.

May.

Chalking up the pavement. Makes a nice change from the Star Wars tomfoolery that has become a daily occurence around these parts. Same kids, different swords (less 'knight', more 'jedi').

Ah little Elke. Only 17 months old and already you're showing defiance in the wardrobe department. Since taking the above photos 1 week ago, you no longer want your feet adorned with anything except sandals. Tricky in a country like Germany where it's non-sandal weather for, um, 8 months of the year. Luckily Summer is on our doorstep. And on the cooler days? Just as well those lovely Germans are bandits for the socks and sandals combo.

Down By The River.

Some belated photos from our trip to the Isar last month. It's only a 10 minute stroll from our front door to this little gem of a paddling spot and for those who have stayed with us, it's just past the nudists and to the left. After almost two years here, (and 29 years of taking the sun for granted back home) we've finally realised that days like these are there to be taken advantage of. For they are indeed, few and far between. Though, if Spring is any indication of what lies ahead in the weather department, then it looks like we're in store for a pretty spectacular Summer.

PS We're off to Berlin in 3 weeks. Excluding our trip home in March, this is our first real holiday since Italy in October. Here, here, here and here. We've been given an extensive list of must sees/dos courtesy of this lovely lady. Tausend Dank!
