Highlights From Oz.

One glorious month crammed into 35 photos. Well there are about 1000 more where these came from but one has to draw the line somewhere.

Six.

Above: Just a few extra pics from our Nuremberg trip. We stumbled upon these cages on our back to the car and Oli & Elke couldn't resist a frolic. Pretty neat, no?

Below: Celebrating 6 wonderful years of Oli at his best mate Dexter's house. I want to write more but for some ker-azy reason we decided to swap their bedrooms around this afternoon and now am way too buggered to do anything but go to bed.  Zzzzzzz...

Nuremberg.

Inspired by a rare bout of good weather we hired a car for the Easter weekend and headed north. It was a toss-up between Nuremberg (Nürnberg) and Lake Constance (Bodensee) but the former, located 170 km north of Munich, is where we chose to spend our Good Friday. The city centre was levelled by Allied bombers towards the end of the WWII and then painstainkingly rebuilt, using the original stone collected from the rubble. After WWII, the city was chosen as the site of the War Crimes Tribunal, now known as the Nuremberg Trials. And while we're on the subject of famous facts about Nuremberg, it was here that the Nazis held their fanatical rallies, the boycott of Jewish businesses began and the infamous Nuremberg Laws (outlawing Jewish citizenship) were enacted. It is also home to the largest Christmas market in Germany which we have yet to visit but is definitely on the cards for this year.

Dave, Oli, Elmer and I were in the mood for some open-air exploration. We traipsed around the picturesque, old part of town, took a myriad of photos, tasted the local speciality - the Nürnberger Rostbratwurst - and washed them down with a beer or three. Apparently there is an ongoing fued over whether these sausages are better than their Regensberg counterparts, which we also had the pleasure of tasting some mere months ago. Those Germans take this sausage business seriously.

It's days like this where we realise how lucky we are to be here and to be sharing this experience with Oli & Elke. The perfect start to the long weekend. Happy Easter!
