Oktoberfest.

Another year, another O-Fest. This year brings the tally up to three. Our brother-in-law Kim asked us the other day, "Sooooo, will you there for one more Oktoberfest, or two?", trying to determine whether he could sneak another one in before we head home for good. For the record, we should be hanging around for one final hurrah next year. Better start saving your pennies. Now.

So unless crowds are your thing, the first Saturday is probably not the best time to attend the old Wies'n. (Refer to photo #3). We only managed a couple of rides, a bratwurst and some gingerbread hearts before we hightailed it out of there and headed home. Not before we popped into our local to enjoy a few quiet beers in the shade.

I want one of those giant gingerbread hearts! You know we have oktoberfest here, right? Down at the rocks. While I'm not sure about the rides and the popularity and the gingerbread hearts and the dressing in national costume, but you can definitely get your german beer served in a large stein by a busty wench. You guys will love it! Kellie xx

Love the bright colourful, shiny pictures. And the gingerbread. I've become quite the gingerbread obsessive what with all this heartburn - apparently ginger is the key. Good excuse to eat lots of biscuits really xx

The few quiet drinks at the pub away from crowds seems like my kinds thing x

oh weh. look at all those crowds...yikes. I hope you don't get ambushed by drunk aussies tripping out of a beer tent.
Meanwhile your daughters dress is gorgeous. Not quite a dirndl but quite traditional looking.

Bianca, how you doing?I never got around to sending that link to you for Barcelona - dang! But I'm sure you went there with plenty of other recommendations.
The Oktofest fest looks unreal! I'd love to participate one day. And what about this crazy hot weather, huh? I can't wait for the weekend to go out and enjoy the sun. xx

Oh how I miss a Helles! And sitting at a Biergarten while people watching. The kiddos looks adorable in their Tracht, looks like a lot of fun!

Looks better than Townsville's annual hommage, that's for sure!

...we have seen the real deal though, and lost eachother for over three hours... both of us completely pissed. So not the fondest memories. Yours looks like a better day than ours was!

..in hindsight, I should have pulled an Elke and stuck to gingerbread! x
