Although there are a couple more days of autumn remaining, I think it`s safe to say that it`s all but over. The first snow of the season fell this weekend as we brace ourselves for the arrival of Old Man Winter. As much as we dislike the cold weather, the snow has to be one of the things we love most about living in Munich. Along with its proximity to the rest of Europe, being able to safely ride our bikes everywhere, having ski slopes on our doorstep and the beer. Definitely the beer. Even though this will be our second winter here, the snow is still indeed a novelty. Especially when matched with blue skies, reminiscent of the `bluebird´ days we used to look forward to when living in Lake Tahoe. The snow is also a reminder that Xmas is but a snowflake away. The Weihnachtsmarkts are up and in full swing and yesterday Ola and I went into town to buy our very first German Xmas decos as this time last year we were rather preoccupied. He chose that baby Jesus in a manger set up there. Bless his woolly bedsocks.
Happy 1. Advent!

Ps This time last year I was sick with a sinus infection and awaiting (yet hoping she would stay put a little longer. At least until the antibiotics had kicked in..) the arrival of a certain baby girl. She did stay put. For 3 more days in fact. Just enough time for me to kick the infection and focus on the enormous task ahead. But more about that next week.

Hi, I came across you blog a little while ago and I'm not sure whether I've commented before or not. I spent last year living in Munich, now I'm back in the US, and I miss it a ton. I really loved it there, so your blog is such a treat for me. I get to relive life there vicariously. I especially love the Weihnachtsmärkte! So jealous right now :)

Europe at Christmas time is just so pretty with all the markets and snow. Enjoy the festive preparations. We bought a few housey decorations yesterday, waiting for Dec 1 to put them up.
How cute is that nativity scene?! I love it. I freaking love it! Germans do do the decorations better. Yes siree.
Sinus infections. MEH! I hate them. Ja?
I miss the snow. When I was in college in MA there was beautiful snow. I grew up super hot christmas, in the middle of summer in Brazil. I think the snow makes it more magical.
oh my snow...I miss the cosy christmas time a bit...all the great cookies and Weihnachtsmarkt, tea and candle...I still can't imagine how it will be to celebrate christmas having 35°C + on the beach :)
Oh and yes, that is a Marimekko cup :) (good eye, again) and I started collecting them....have also a few on my christmas list :)
The snow fell for the first time here this weekend too. Is it lame that I got very excited about it? Christmas is most definitely on it's way. And that nativity set is awesome. xx
oh the snow! please tell me you have the best and biggest snow ball fights. Cannot wait to see the first snowman you build! x
I loved the snow when I lived in the Northern Hemisphere. Can't wait to see some pics of a snowman you guys make. And those pics of Elke are friggin' gorgeous. Look at that girl stand! x
